KasImiye Medresesi Our culture and history day tour starts with pick up our guest from their hotels and drive through to our first location a Cultural Heritage from Aqquyunlu Period in Anatolia; Kasımiye Mendresesi. Madrasa of Kasımiye which is located near the urban site of Mardin in Turkey’s Southeast Anatolia Region was built in the last quarter of the fifteenth century by Sultan Kasım Bey who is Aqquyunlu Uzun Hasan’s nephew. Kasımiye Madrasa has similarity with Zinciriye Madrasa was built by the Artuqid Principality in A.D. 1385. However Kasımiye is the only monument with its authenticity that can be reached today in Mardin. Madrasa had been continued its unique function until the start of 1th World War with the Ottoman and Turkey Republican periods maintenance and repairin.
Ulucami Our next stop will be Ulucami also known as Great Mosque of Mardin. The mosque is located in historic core of Mardin. It has numerous inscriptive plaques from the Seljuk, Artuqid, Aq Qoyunlu and Ottoman periods, showing that the mosque was probably founded in the eleventh century by the Seljuks and developed to its current state under Artuqid rule during the last quarter of the twelfth century.
Deyrulzafaran Monastery Our day tour continues with Deyrülzafaran Monastery that is one of the most important religion centers of Assyrian belief, and that takes its name from saffron flower that was used in its construction, is 5 km far away from Mardin and located on hillside watching Upper Mesopotamia. The monastery that became the residence place for Assyrian Orthodox Patriarchs for 640 years until 1932, was composed of three floors. The structure gained its current position in 18th century with the additions that were made in various times beginning from 5th century. The monastery was built on a structure that was used as a Sun Temple Before Christian Era and as a castle that was us.
Mardin Before we drive back our guest to their hotels we’ll visit the bazaars as Tellallar, Kayseriye and Bakırcılar. Our clients will learn this iconic places’ history and will get asssitance during their shoppings by our guide. Telllallar Bazaar, also known as Cavalrymen Bazaar or Middlemen Bazaar, is dated to 17th century. It has an order consisting of porticos on both side of the main way and one row of deep shops behind the portico. Kayseriye Bazaar, where the mystical atmosphere of the city is reflected to the end, was built during the Artuklu State period. It is said that in this bazaar, which has historical textures, many rumors told in its time are still spoken. Although it could not preserve its old solid structure, it still has a magnificent appearance. It is one of the most popular bazaars in Mardin on a local basis. Known to the world with its silver and copper engravings. There is an opportunity to watch the works sold in the bazaar during production.
